Cuatroochenta is expanding its reach in the cybersecurity sector by completing its portfolio with services for detecting and preventing transactional and banking fraud. The technology holding company announced today to BME Growth the agreement to acquire 100% of MP Services, a Barcelona-based firm specializing in fraud prevention for digital payments in industries such as airlines, fashion, sports, and leisure e-commerce.
Led by its two founding partners, Marc Nieto (CEO) and Marcelo Araujo (COO), MP Services is known for its high level of specialization, with a team of seasoned criminologists skilled in analyzing online transactions to detect fraud. The company holds deep expertise in identifying behavioral patterns in these types of operations, analyzing millions of transactions annually.

A Scalable AI-Powered Solution
According to British consultancy Juniper Research, projected losses from fraud in the e-commerce sector are expected to reach $91 billion annually by 2028. The integration of MP Services into Cuatroochenta, alongside Sofistic, is expected to help mitigate these losses within their scope of operation.
«MP Services adds a key layer of expertise that, combined with the AI developments we’re working on in Cuatroochenta’s R&D division, will allow us to offer a scalable global solution to this issue»
Cuatroochenta’s CIO and Sofistic founder, Ángel López, also sees the acquisition as a natural evolution of their cybersecurity positioning, aligned with market needs: “Clients are asking us to get involved in fraud detection and containment after entrusting us with their cybersecurity. MP Services is a highly specialized company, well-regarded in the sector, and clearly aligned with this new strategic direction.
