Facility Management  ·  FAMA

The FAMA platform secures the contract in a tender organized by the Junta de Castilla y León, in collaboration with the four public universities of the community and backed by European funds, for the integrated management of scientific equipment.

The client:

In October 2014, the Ministry of Education of the Regional Government of Castilla y León, in collaboration with the four public universities of the community (Burgos, León, Salamanca, and Valladolid), established an agreement to create a network of shared scientific equipment called INFRARED (INFRAestructuras en RED).

Each of the four public universities in Castilla y León (Burgos, León, Salamanca, and Valladolid) operates a laboratory service primarily catering to the research community. While the main users are the research groups within their respective universities, the equipment is available for use by any public or private entity through the appropriate channels.

Scientific and technical infrastructures play a pivotal role in conducting high-quality research. Securing funding, ensuring maintenance, and continually updating and improving these infrastructures are fundamental for bolstering the regional science, technology, and innovation system. The proposal aims to solidify a network of scientific and technical infrastructures and equipment. This network, in turn, will enhance the research activities conducted in various centers, fostering collaboration, idea sharing, and addressing concerns. Two key values underpin this initiative: diversity and creativity. Simultaneously, mechanisms and procedures will be established to optimize the efficient utilization of these resources.

  • Detailed control of maintenance for high-value purchased equipment: ensuring thorough oversight of maintenance to facilitate early detection of breakdowns and other incidents.
4

Automation of procedures:

  • Requests made through a public web portal.
  • Integrated management of the entire lifecycle of requests from a unified environment.
  • Automation of procedures derived from the request for services.

Updated and shared information:

  • Document management.
  • Unique and proprietary database.
  • Information shared among the different universities.

«Through the accessible FAMA portal, open to any user, we have successfully made the university's scientific and technical resources available to the public. This not only enhances research activities by optimizing equipment usage but also fosters collaborative spaces for sharing achievements, ideas, and concerns. Additionally, it facilitates the coordination of future investments, ensuring a streamlined approach that avoids unnecessary duplication and inefficiencies»
